Northcare Trust is committed to the Treaty of Waitangi, and part of that commitment has been reflected by the appointment of the Kaiwhakahaere.

The approach that has been taken by Northcare Trust in terms of its commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi, has been an holistic approach which embraces the spiritual, and physical well-being of Tangata Whaiora and Staff.

The role of the Kaiwhakahaere is to ensure that culturally appropriate services are provided for Tangata Whaiora, such as cultural assessments, cultural support and support for whanau of Tangata Whaiora.

The Kaiwhakahaere also provides support for the Staff of Northcare Trust, through providing Treaty of Waitangi Workshops, Cultural Awareness and Cultural Safety Programmes.
